Living for the weekends is a sign of imbalance. It says that you are not finding enough rest, rejuvenation, and satisfaction in your everyday life. It’s a sign that your brain and body need a much needed “break”. But in a balanced life you are not constantly needing a break from life because there is a healthy balance between work and rest. In today’s podcast I break down the four reasons you are living for the weekend and explain what you need to do to break the cycle.
Following through with your boundaries
The only thing getting in the way of you following through with your work-out, or leaving work on time, or not checking email or logging back on at night, the only thing getting in the way of you holding your boundaries…is an emotion. Emotions are what drive all our actions (or inactions) and when you learn to actually feel an emotion, rather than avoid it or judge it, holding your boundaries will get immensely easier. In today’s episode I walk you through exactly what it takes to follow-through with the commitments and boundaries that will help you feel balanced.
Creating balance as a lawyer (with Olivia Vizachero)
Is it true there are industries where balance is just impossible? To answer this question, I interviewed, Olivia Vizachero, founder of The Less Stressed Lawyer. She and I dive straight into talking about the challenges of creating balance in an industry that rewards overworking. We speak about what it takes to create balance, specific decisions that need to be made along the way, mindsets that open up the possibility of balance and the nitty gritty of creating boundaries.
Cultivating satisfaction at work
There is one emotion that almost feels like magic when creating work-life balance: satisfaction. When you feel satisfied, you don’t feel the need to do more. You feel like what you have is enough, what you’ve done is enough and how you showed up is enough. In today’s podcast I am sharing 3 ways you can cultivate this magical feeling of being satisfied and explain why it is not the natural place for your brain to go.
Should I join the Collective?
In today’s podcast I am walking you through what happens inside the Ambitious and Balanced Working Moms Collective. Over the past several weeks, I’ve taught you the 5 steps to work-life balance and from that series I heard from a number of working moms, asking questions about the The Collective. Today I want to share what happens after you join and all the inside details of the program.
You don’t need more time to feel balanced (part 5)
If you cannot create more hours in a day, in order to achieve balance, the only two things you can do are: learn how to achieve more in less time and change the way you think about time. Because in a balanced life, the time you have feels like “enough” and you feel at peace with the ways you are spending it. In today’s podcast I am going to challenge the way you think about time and give you 3 necessary shifts in your mindset on time. This is step 5 of a 5-part series on creating sustainable work life balance.
Creating and sticking to boundaries (part 4)
Boundaries are the decisions you make to either protect (or not protect) the things that are most important to you, things like time with your family, date nights, rest and working-out. Every day you make decisions to either honor those priorities and keep them safe, or not. In today’s podcast, I help you understand exactly what it takes to prioritize the things that matter most and I explain the 3 most common breaks in your boundary. This is step 4 of a 5-part series on creating sustainable work life balance.
Balance starts with your thoughts (part 3)
Balance starts with your thoughts. If you want to FEEL balanced, then you need to start thinking thoughts that make you feel that way. In today’s episode I am covering the 3rd step of the 5 Step to Work Life Balance process: controlling your mind. There are three things you need to know when learning how to interrupt negative thoughts and cultivate an arsenal of positive ones. This is part 3 of a 5 part series.
