How do you make your dream a reality when you’re feeling uncertain, exhausted and stuck?

“I want to be a good mother, who raises good humans, who contribute to the world.”

My client Laura said this to me on our first day of coaching.

Her dream is probably not much different than yours.

It’s not complicated but can feel nearly impossible to figure out.

Laura was in a job she no longer enjoyed. Her motivation was at an all-time low and she missed her kids terribly.

She was considering starting her own business but wasn’t sure.

She wanted to get back to volunteering but didn’t have the time.

She wanted a rhythm of life that allowed her to be home with her kids after school but felt stuck in a 9-5.

How do you make your dream a reality when you’re feeling uncertain, exhausted and stuck?

You do what Laura did in coaching….

Start with the belief it’s possible.

It’s possible to figure out how to start a business or get into a career you enjoy.

It’s possible to edit things out of your life to make room for the things you want.

It’s possible to be home with the kids after school.

Laura had to believe FIRST.

Most people think we need to know the HOW first…and belief follows.  But we actually can never know HOW to do something until we do it. We can be 99% sure, because other people have done it, but our brains don’t really know for sure.

It’s hard to figure HOW to make something happen if you don’t believe it can happen in the first place.

So, in coaching, we start with belief. Belief in yourself. Belief in what it is you want and why. Belief that you are someone that has done and can do hard things. Belief in what is possible. Believe that you’re worth it!

Laura built up her belief in self and the possibility of her dream, and you know what? She got out of her own way and figured out how to make it happen.

She started her dream business and within 6 weeks had so much interest she started creating her exit plan from the 9 to 5.

She now gets to create her own schedule and be home with her kids after school.

She started volunteering again (a goal of hers) and joined a local board.

The dream of being a good mom, raising good humans and making a meaningful contribution in this world was no longer a dream, it was her reality.

In my Aligning Motherhood program I have a process of helping you build up your belief in self, get clear on what you want and why and then lay out a plan to make it happen.

Action always follows belief (not the other way around).
