Balance during the holidays

There is only one thing that gets in the way of you feeling present and balanced over the holidays: your thoughts.

When you’re thinking, I need this to be just right, you spend way too much time cooking, cleaning, and shopping for the perfect gift.

When you’re thinking, I don’t want them to be disappointed, you say yes to every invitation or agree to roast the turkey or order & send more holiday cards so no one is left out.

When you’re thinking, I need to do it all, you fill every minute in your calendar with activities and you focus on creating “memorable experiences” that end up draining you.

These are just thoughts.

But when you think about them a lot, you start to make decisions based on them.

In this week’s podcast I breakdown the three most common thoughts that get in the way of you being present and balanced during the holidays.

I also cover, in detail, the first thought (I need this to be just right) and what you need to start intentionally thinking instead.

Then, next week, I will dive into the other two.

But first, here is why this is important.

When you don’t know which thoughts are pulling you out of the present moment, you spend a lot of time thinking the problem is the holidays…there is just too much to do.

And then you are likely to just push through and accept that the holidays are stressful and do your best to be cheerful in the process.

But a balanced and present holiday season is not one that you are “pushing through”. It is one where every activity feels like a choice and every night you go to sleep reflecting on something that brought you joy that day.

I break it all down in this episode. Click here to listen.

I am walking all my students through a process of creating a present and balanced holiday season with the Be Present This Holiday Season challenge!
