Fear of Missing Joy (F.O.M.J.)
I think F.O.M.J. is more detrimental than the fear of missing out.
It's not so much WHAT you are missing out on but that it might bring more joy than what you currently are experiencing.
It's sort of... the grass is always greener mentality.
---> More joy would be found in spending more time with your kids.
---> More joy would be found at a higher income level.
---> More joy would be found if you had a different job.
Here's the thing...
Joy can only be found in what you are currently doing...not in something you are not.
Joy is found in the EXPERIENCE of life.
Joy is found in being completely PRESENT where you are. Not wishing you were somewhere else or thinking about something else you should be doing.
Joy is found in NEVER DAY-DREAMING about a life that could be...but focusing in on the life you have.
It's found in the abundance of today.
Tapping into your inner joy is simply about being in the here and now.
Choosing today.
Choosing what you are currently doing.
Choosing to be where you are.
When you do...you will reap the FULL JOY that life can bring and know that the grass is the greenest wherever your feet happen to be.
