My alarm went off at 5:30 a.m. this morning…and I smiled.
Mornings are my favorite time.
The house is quiet and dark. I literally roll out of bed and walk into the family room (still in the dark), light a candle and do 20 minutes of yoga.
When I am done, I make tea, sit down with my journal and spend a few intentional moments by myself until my 3-year-old wakes up at 6:15 a.m.
Then, we snuggle.
He crawls under my fuzzy blanket with his milk and tucks his head into my side and I pick back up my journaling. He waits (usually) until I am done. Then we do a puzzle or read a book until his 6-year-old sister gets up.
And then chaos ensues.
I love my morning rhythm. It is an essential part of me feeling balanced throughout the day. There is alone time for me, a small work-out, quality interactions with my kids…
Creating this morning routine was not easy and, in fact, it still takes daily commitment.
My brain definitely wants to just keep sleeping, to get irritated when my son gets up a tad early or attempt to pick up every toy left on the floor…but I do it anyway.
Doing something new and making changes in your life ALWAYS feels uncomfortable. Your brain ALWAYS will put up a fight. This isn’t a problem…unless you listen to it.
Did you know you don’t always have to listen to your thoughts? They are just words in your head…you can keep moving forward, pushing on to your goals even if it is uncomfortable.
In fact, you should just expect change to be uncomfortable (it always is).
In coaching, I help you find balance, create rhythms of life that make you happy and move toward big ambitious goals despite feeling uncomfortable. I teach you how to manage your brain through the discomfort.
Yep…you too can have a rhythm of life that gets you up early, working out and having lots of snuggle time with your kids…all before you start work.
