Figuring out how to have a fulfilling career after you have kids is confusing.
Your decision to stay or leave your job, to switch careers, to start over to take a promotion…every decision feels hard because it impacts more than just you.
Our sense of responsibility, as mothers, skyrockets after kids and we don’t want any changes we make to impact our family in a negative way.
I see many working moms just suck it up and stay unhappy at their current job, for the sake of the family.
They feel like they have to choose: my happiness or my family’s happiness.
(And when framed like that, every mom would choose their family.)
But your happiness and your family’s happiness don’t have to be in conflict with one other.
Your happiness actually makes you a better mom.
Your kids would rather you be happy, show up happy when with them and teach them how to be happy, then have the money your current job brings.
You are a better mom because you work, but only if your work brings happiness.
