Listen, your boss should be paying you to work-out.
When you boil it down, your employer is paying you for your BRAIN. They want your thoughts, strategies & expertise….all things stored in your brain.
When your brain is functioning at optimal capacity, they get more productivity and better ideas. When your brain is tired and stressed, they get a less effective employee.
There is a link between your brain and your body. When your brain is stressed, that shows up as tension throughout your muscles. When your brain is clear, your body produces a natural energy and momentum.
When you exercise, your body releases tension and effectively clears out all the clogged up stress, giving your brain and your body an energy boast.
If your employer is paying you for your brain and there is a link between physical exercise and a clear brain…then they should be paying you to exercise.
The point is not that you should go ask your boss to pay for your gym membership (though that would be nice), but it’s to give yourself permission to clear your brain.
This is what your boss wants more than anything: an employee with a highly functioning brain.
So, what do you need to clear your brain?
A work-out during the day?
A completely work-free evening?
A lunch outside of the office?
A 20 minute nap?
There is no guilt in deciding to clear your brain to come back and tackle work with a renewed sense of purpose and energy.
In fact, if your boss could put it into words, I’d say they’re begging you to do it…or if they aren’t…they should be.
Give yourself permission to clear your brain. A clear brain is what you’re getting paid for.
